Affiliate Guidelines

All posts by our affiliates must contain proper FTC disclosures. Please carefully review the FTC Endorsement Guides prior to posting.  

Although this guide does not replace the FTC Endorsement Guides and you are solely responsible for compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, please see the following guidelines for proper affiliate disclosures.

 

Disclosures

Affiliates are required to disclose that they are a Mediavine affiliate and any other relationship they have with Mediavine or Journey. Example: “I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.”

  • Make disclosures clear and conspicuous; or in other words, hard to miss. 
  • Make disclosures with any endorsement message or affiliate link. If the disclosure can be seen with the endorsement message and link at the same time, a single disclosure is sufficient.
  • If your endorsement is in a picture on a platform like Snapchat and Instagram Stories, be sure to superimpose the disclosure over the picture and make sure viewers have enough time to notice and read it.
  • If making an endorsement in a video, be sure to put a disclosure in the video and not just in the description uploaded with the video.
  • If making an endorsement in a live stream, be sure to repeat the disclosure periodically so viewers who only see part of the stream will get the disclosure.
  • Don’t put disclosures only on an “About me” or profile page, at the end of posts or videos, or anywhere that requires a person to click more.
  • Ensure your disclosure stands apart from other content and isn’t mixed into a group of hashtags or links.
  • Avoid vague or confusing terms.
  • Don’t assume that a platform’s disclosure tool is sufficient, such as those available on Meta or YouTube.

 

False and Deceptive Advertising

Affiliates shall not make any false or otherwise deceptive advertising claims when promoting Mediavine or Journey or otherwise distributing their affiliate link.

  • Be truthful when discussing your experience with Mediavine or Journey and its products or services.
  • Share the claims and metrics that Mediavine or Journey provides to you for distribution.
  • Only discuss your experience with a product or feature that you have tried.
  • Don’t make any guarantees to consumers regarding Mediavine or Journey’s products and services.
  • Avoid sharing claims about a product that would require proof that Mediavine or Journey may not have.

 

Additional Guidance

  • Only use Mediavine or Journey trademarks or other intellectual property that has been provided to you via Mediavine or Journey’s’ Affiliate Portal.
  • Don’t send SPAM or unsolicited emails.
  • Gain permission before using the likeness or intellectual property of others.
  • Don’t use vulgar, threatening, discriminatory or other language that will reflect poorly on the Mediavine or Journey brand.
